Calling all Coin!

Join us this month as we #GetCoinMoving

South Atlantic Bank is working to #getcoinmoving in our communities as the U.S. is experiencing a disruption in coin circulation related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is important to note that this is not a coin shortage. There is approximately $48 billion in coins currently in circulation in the U.S. Unfortunately, much of the necessary coin is sitting dormant inside America’s 128 million households.

How can you help?

  • Go on a scavenger hunt and look for extra coin in the couch, laundry room and even the car!
  • Bring your coin into South Atlantic Bank to exchange for cash.
  • Pay with coin.
  • Deposit your coin into your bank account.

The Mint produced 30 percent of coin introduced into the supply chain this past year, nearing record production levels. Returning coins into circulation by spending them, or depositing or exchanging them at banks or kiosks, will make a meaningful difference for the millions of American people and businesses that rely on coins to support cash transactions. Those who are unbanked are hit the hardest when businesses can’t accept cash as a form of payment.
